Best air quality through indoor climate control
… best possible safety and convenience. And all this from a single source. Your contact person will answer all your questions, from the initial idea right up to the commissioning. Natural automatic ventilation has a very high acceptance among end users, especially if they can intervene manually (e.g. by local ventilation buttons). A ventilation concept based on natural ventilation minimises or avoids the planning of ventilation shafts in the building. Compared to mechanical ventilation, no additional ventilation openings are necessary in the façade and thus do not influence the architectural design of the façade. low-noise operation (no fan noises) lower investment, installation and maintenance costs than mechanical ventilation systems Consultation-friendly, reliable planning, scalable: with the compact drive control modules, various ventilation concepts (individual, group, central controls) can be easily planned and scaled. Installation, commissioning and operation made easy We offer simple assembly and commissioning, e.g. by circuit diagram and description on individual drive controls. This reduces sources of error and ensures speedy connection. The scalability of the control allows maximum flexibility and the spare parts can be stored in the service vehicle as only a few control types are in use. Comfort and freedom GEZE is your partner at every stage of your planning. From the first consultation, through to installation and after-sales service. Thanks to our industry know-how, we are able to recommend individual property solutions quickly, as the approaches here are usually very similar. Secure and quiet – the TS 5000 SoftClose
… best seller on the market, and we will definitely continue to offer it. We want to emphasise: the TS 5000 SoftClose will not be replacing the TS 5000, simply expand it – as needed. We recommend the TS 5000 SoftClose for challenging installation situations with changing pressure levels where doors still need to close securely, and ideally quietly as well. The door closer perfectly combines these stipulations. It won the German Innovation Award and Iconic Award for good reason. Alexander Müller shows the perfectly coordinated valves of the TS 5000 SoftClose. © GEZE GmbH What makes the TS 5000 SoftClose so special? Alexander Müller: The fact that it succeeds in combining quiet and secure closing so perfectly! Often, security might suffer because of a need to reduce noise – but that doesn’t have to be the case. The TS 5000 SoftClose stands out here with innovative coordinated valves. This means we still have two valves, but they are uncoupled from one another. The last 15 degrees of the opening angle are set completely independently of the speed of the door leaf otherwise. The latching action speed can be set with variable adjustment over these last 15 degrees, which are decisive for how the door closes. This allows the door to close in a controlled manner. And the best thing for the installation company is that this correlates with the door leaf over the distance from 180 to 15 degrees without setting the closing speed. That means the door closer needs almost no adjustment. The two challenges with door closers are that, on the one hand, the door needs to close securely to fulfil fire protection stipulations. On the other hand, it should not slam into the lock – no matter what changing pressure situations the door is exposed to. Alexander Müller, Product Manager in Door technology at GEZE Learn more about the TS 5000 SoftClose in the video So, do installation companies primarily, benefit from the TS 5000 SoftClose? Alexander Müller: Installation companies should be glad to learn that all functions are easy to access and can be adjusted from the front. In addition, a single valve is all that is needed to adjust the latching action speed, with no additional attachments. This generally speeds up installation. That saves money and time, in particular when installing multiple door closers in one building. If you are already familiar with or using the TS 5000, this will be particularly easy since the TS 5000 SoftClose is part of the same family. Hole pattern and accessories are the same, and you can also use the guide rails of the TS 5000 for the TS 5000 SoftClose. Retrofitting is therefore very simple. Building operators will certainly benefit from this, as they can ensure carefree, secure use of the building with lower operating and maintenance costs. No extra costs are charged for additional components. In addition, there is no need to disrupt operations, due to the ease of installation. Last but not least, operators will no longer need to field complaints about slamming doors. Installation companies will certainly be glad to learn that all functions are easy to access and can be adjusted from the front, and that the latching action speed can be controlled with a single valve. Alexander Müller Product Manager of door technology at GEZE We should also not forget architects, who can benefit from the TS 5000 SoftClose: Architects will certainly enjoy using the TS 5000 SoftClose if they are looking for the perfect door closer solution for challenging situations. The potential applications have been expanded significantly. Since the TS 5000 SoftClose has the same dimensions as the TS 5000, the entire project has a great, consistent and uniform look with the streamlined, high-quality GEZE design customers expect. Mr. Müller, thank you very much for speaking with us! Innovative door systems for the National Library in Stockholm
… best-kept treasures. Modernised and accessible entrance with a historic look A curved automatic door leads to the storage room, where the library's most secret and best-kept treasures are stored, protected against outside influences. © PMAGI AB Foto & Film Before the modernisation, the impressive reading room of the Stockholm library had two revolving doors that were accessible from the large entrance hall. One of the revolving doors has now been replaced by a sensor-controlled, handicapped accessible automatic door construction made of aluminium, which has the same dimensions and appearance as the historic door from the 1870s. As a special feature, the imitation wood on the aluminium parts is hand-painted so that the modern and now accessible entrance retains its historic look. The same is true of the Slimdrive SL integrated automatic door drive which, with its low height of just
How healing architecture works at the SJD hospital
… best possible treatment and care. GEZE is supporting the building's healing architecture with advanced door technology. Accessibility and safety for the children’s hospital Automatic sliding doors in the entrance area of the SJD Paediatric Cancer Centre Barcelona © Pau Esculies / GEZE Iberia In hospitals in general, and at the Sant Joan de Déu (SJD) children’s hospital in particular, a key objective is to provide the best possible treatment in the best possible environment. This includes providing surroundings where patients and personnel alike can move freely and safely. At the SJD Paediatric Cancer Centre Barcelona (PCCB), another goal was to design wards and corridors to be open and friendly wherever possible, while ensuring they could be locked securely at key locations. These factors also needed to be taken into consideration when planning the door systems: Fire protection: hospitals are subject to strict fire protection regulations and standards, intended to ensure that both patients and personnel are protected in case of a fire. Because of this, the door technology must conform to corresponding fire protection classes, and provide effective partitioning in case of an emergency. Emergency exit protection: According to statutory requirements, escape routes in hospitals must be clearly marked and easily accessible. Because of this, the door technology must be designed to facilitate quick evacuations in case of an emergency, for instance via automatic electric strikes or panic locks. Reliable emergency exit protection via suitable exit systems is also essential. Hygiene: In hospitals and other healthcare facilities, hygiene is a top priority. Because of this, all of the components used in door technology need to be easy to clean and disinfect. In addition, the use of non-contact electric strikes or automatic sliding doors is recommended to reduce contact with door handles and facilitate barrier-free access. Accessibility: In order to allow all people equal access to public buildings regardless of their physical condition, accessibility is not only an ethical obligation, but also required by law. Because of this, door systems must conform to accessibility standards and requirements, for instance through wide door openings, low thresholds and automatic electric strikes. Discretion: In hospitals, maintaining a quiet atmosphere and safeguarding patient privacy are essential to patients’ well-being and recovery. Soft-closing doors or smart door systems help create a quiet and discrete environment. LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR SOLUTIONS FOR HEALTH CARE What is healing architecture? The goal of healing architecture is to promote health and well-being through building design. By taking scientific insights into account along with the needs of all building users, healing architecture is intended to support patients’ healing process, improve well-being for personnel and family members, and at the same time improve the effectiveness of medical care. LEARN MORE ABOUT HEALING ARCHITECTURE Accessible and secure access to the PCCB oncology centre ECdrive technology ensures comfortable passing through and creative freedom in the outpatient wards. © Pau Esculies / GEZE Iberia Automatic sliding doors in many areas of the PCCB paediatric hospital were equipped with ECdrive or Slimdrive SL NT drives. These allow for accessible and non-contact movement throughout the hospital, making them the right choice for hygiene reasons as well – especially in sensitive areas like the PCCB oncology centre in Barcelona. The hospital selected the ECdrive for the entrance area. The automatic linear sliding door system easily integrates into the building design, thanks to its low height and clear style. It impresses with low maintenance requirements and a long service life even in high-traffic areas, making it the perfect choice for large health care centres like the Sant Joan de Déu. GC 307+ non-contact push button enables hygienic activation of automatic doors. © Pau Esculies / GEZE Iberia Hermetic sealing thanks to hygienic doors The heart of the new centre, where the operating rooms, X-ray rooms, and specialised area for immunocompromised patients are located, is equipped with highly hygienic doors and the Powerdrive PL-HT automatic linear sliding door system, specially created for large and heavy doors in areas with increased hygiene requirements. They are accessible, low-contact and easy to clean, making them an excellent choice for highly sensitive areas. A hermetic seal is created by lowering and pressing the door leaf against the frame structure. In addition, a full circumferential sealing system with sealing corners reduces the air permeability of the closed sliding door system. LEARN MORE ABOUT HYGIENIC DOORS Hygienic and accessible door opening thanks to radar movement detectors In areas with high hygiene requirements, the GC 307+ non-contact proximity switch also makes it possible to activate automatic doors without actually touching them. The radar movement detector detects persons and objects within a detection area of 10 to 60 cm, allowing the doors to be opened effortlessly, hygienically, d accessibly. In addition, the scanning ranges are adjustable to optimally adapt the sensors to the prevailing ambient conditions and user needs, so doors do not open unnecessarily each time someone passes by, for instance. LEARN MORE ABOUT RADAR MOVEMENT DETECTORS Note Instead of the Powerdrive PL-HT, GEZE now offers the MCRdrive, a new sliding door system that scores highly with a range of advantages, especially for hygienically sensitive areas of application. More about the GEZE MCRdrive Safety and discretion despite an open design inside Multiple factors play a role in the design inside the oncology centre: here as well, ensuring a barrier-free environment is a key priority. The indoor climate, hygiene, and the energy efficiency of the building are also relevant factors. The powerful Powerturn swing door drive is used in corridors and rooms where heavy fire protection doors need to be moved. It is particularly well-suited for large and heavy door leaves, and allows for large opening widths as well, like those needed in hospital operation. Additional advantages of the Powerturn for the hospital: To ensure smooth and safe operation depending on applicable needs and usage areas, the opening and closing speeds, as well as the closing force are individually adjustable from EN4-7. The low energy function ensures doors open and close at reduced speeds, so that they fulfil the highest safety requirements. Motorised support for manual door opening via the servo function is an advantage in particular for users with restricted mobility. Obstacle detection stops the opening or closing process once an obstacle is detected, to avoid potential accidents and damage. Good to know: the Powerturn F/R can be installed for escape and rescue routes at required locations. LEARN MORE ABOUT EMERGENCY EXIT PROTECTION GEZE delivered a large number of automatic drive solutions for multiple areas of the SJD Paediatric Cancer Centre Barcelona. In addition, the company helped create smart access points without architectural barriers, and even air tight solutions in areas with specific hygiene requirements. By doing so, GEZE helped improve quality and safety for all patients and employees of the hospital. … best possible treatment and care. The North Wing, which was officially opened in January 2020, is strategically important for Denmark's healthcare system – now and in the future. Bringing specialist expertise together in one place makes it possible to offer patients and relatives both treatment and care of international standard in surroundings designed to handle extreme complexity. So far, 33 hi-tech operating rooms and 196 private rooms have been opened for use. The North Wing's operating rooms are equipped with robots and large flat-panel displays, making diagnostics and treatment better and quicker. All patients have access to the Internet and their own medical records. Private rooms with space for relatives take care of patients' needs for privacy, discretion and rest. Healing architecture – always focused on patients The ECdrive sliding door system with contactless proximity switches ensures hygienic access to operating theatres and patient rooms. © GEZE GmbH The architecture and aesthetics play a major role in creating the best possible environment for the patients. Sound, inflow of light, colours, art and nature are elements that together create "healing architecture", i.e. an architecture that promotes the patients' mental well-being and reduces the stress of being hospitalised with a serious condition. To ensure that each component, large or small, helps realise the vision for the North Wing, while maintaining the highest levels of hygiene, the standard for suppliers is high, in the construction phase. Learn more about healing architecture Modern solutions and healing architecture The North Wing is designed as a zig-zag with one central corridor and local “streets” in the clinical areas. This makes it easy and quick to get from A to B without passing through areas with patients. In addition, the part of the building is designed so that daylight reaches all areas, making the rooms light and airy. To avoid large rooms generating too much noise, the acoustics has also been important in the architectural design. In addition, the rooms are flexible, which means that a room can be altered without incurring major costs. Deliverables for the North Wing, including a sterilisation centre, of 93,000 m², have now been added to the existing hospital area of 190,000 m². Welcome to the New North Wing! The GC 307+, a non-contact proximity switch © GEZE GmbH Comfortable and hygienic automatic systems for more than 450 doors The healing architecture, the high level of hygiene and the extreme requirements for functionality are also reflected in the automatic door systems chosen for the North Wing. The 33 doors to the operating rooms are hermetically sealed in order to keep the rooms sterile and bacteria-free. The building is also equipped with around 140 automatic sliding doors and more than 300 automatic swing door drive . The doors open and close automatically without contact with the door handle. In terms of hygiene – particularly in the light of COVID-19 – non-contact automatic door systems are critical for reducing the risk of infection. In addition, the automated solutions ensure that doors open and close very quietly. Out of consideration for the patients, noise from internal traffic in the North Wing must be kept to a minimum. "We have extensive experience of cooperating with Danish hospitals, and the North Wing is our biggest individual hospital construction project to date. We started our collaboration with the contractor in 2015, and have had an Installation Technician working full-time on the project for several years.", said Poul Torndahl, Sales Engineer at GEZE Denmark. It is a massive construction project with very well-thought-out architecture and unique design and functional requirements. This has made it incredibly exciting to be part of the project.
