Cummins Sothern Africa Regional Organization

Fast growing node Waterfall is set to become the new CBD of Gauteng

Sitting between Johannesburg and Pretoria, Waterfall is one of the largest urban developments, offering a concept which connects and integrates lifestyle and business.  Featuring high-quality purpose-designed buildings with a focus on mixed-use precincts, this area is already home to notable power-houses PwC, Deloitte, Dimension Data, Amrod and the BMW Group SA.

In the heart of the Waterfall Logistics Precinct, the new Cummins Southern Africa Regional Organization building is rising from its prominent site alongside the N1 Highway off Allandale Road.

Modern iconic design with unique functional features
Jonathan Leibowitz, architect of Attacq’s and Zenprop’s newest developments from Empowered Spaces Architects says ‘Our aim for this mixed-use site was to deliver a unique and iconic modern design that not only functions with integrity, flexibility and efficiency across the factory and office structures but also delivers a visual and fascinating experience for many vehicles on the N1 of the iconic offices from various elevations. While every aspect of the facility was guided by the Cummins International Design standards with local adaptations, Empowered Spaces Architects have taken the thinking further by amongst others, making use of different colors and materials to accentuate the profile of the office and warehouse structures.

GEZE well-placed to support growth
Only a stones-throw from GEZE’s Head-Office, the new Cummins Southern African Offices will sit alongside a large-scale factory where powerful & dependable engines for Automotive, Mining and Power Generation applications are to be remanufactured and repaired. Housing such powerful engines requires strict compliance to fire-safety and emergency-exit solutions.

To tackle the scale of the challenge, and the increasing need for seamless functional design, GEZE’s certified double-leaf fire doors feature invisible functionality. With the GEZE ISM providing an integrated mechanical closing-sequence control function, where closing force and speed can be adjusted, and where the hold-open position may be mechanical or electromagnetic. Horizontal activation panic-bars and locks are designed to enable exit doors to be opened easily in the event of an emergency.

In the factory, the GEZE TS5000 with guiderail is fitted to wider door leaf formats of up to 1400mm, allowing occupants with tooling trolleys and equipment to enter and exit the building with ease.

Hands-free automated access provides Customers to the factory with seamless access, whilst enabling optimal climate control for the interior.

Unencumbered access to bathrooms is made possible with the installation of the GEZE TS4000 overhead door-closer where the door closing delay can easily be adjusted from the front, providing occupants with up to 30 seconds to move through the doorway with ease.

Stylish off-set stainless steel pull-handles GEZE 350CTC used across the factory and office interiors provide reliable functionality, without compromising the beautiful aesthetic and a sturdy hand-feel.
